This vintage alcohol advertisement for Augier Frères & Co. features a subdued colour palette and beautiful gold lettering. It encapsulates the aura of French royalty, prominently depicting none other than King Louis XIV.

Information sourced from The Whisky Exchange points towards Augier being the very first Cognac house, founded in 1643 by the wine merchant Phillippe Augier. The following two centuries are shrouded in mystery as their records have been lost, up until when they were sold to the Canadian distillers Seagram in 1966. A French-owned group, Pernod Ricard, would later buy Seagram’s drinks portfolio and reintroduce the Augier brand in 2013.
